They are not ripping off MGMT..they have been around longer than them. MGMT is more popular because they live in the west. Empire of the sun is more popular in the east, specifically Australia. It's the indie genre anyways, it gives you similar vibes. Non the less Empire of the sun is very creative and MGMT is as well. I think Empire of the sun music is more of an adventure and MGMT is more an acid trip :D. Love em both though.
